Undergraduate Study
Creative Writing Minor
The Minor in Creative Writing at NTU is open to all undergraduate students interested in exploring their creative literary potential. Students learn the techniques necessary for crafting well-made poetry, fiction, drama, and screenplays, and are encouraged to nurture their creative and innovative abilities. The courses comprise workshops that are devoted to literary form and technique and to the exploration of contemporary trends. Classes provide a forum for students to share their work and receive responses from professional and student authors in an encouraging and productive environment.
Creative Final Year Projects
Students who have completed at least two courses from the Creative Writing Minor are eligible to propose a project in Creative Writing for their Graduation Essay/Final Year Project. Creative Final Year Projects may be undertaken in fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, creative non-fiction or multi-media writing. Students are encouraged to work in a genre they have completed work in before. The creative project must include an exegesis comprising 25% of the total word count. The exegesis will describe the project’s creative aims and, with reference to other authors, discuss one or more considerations of technique or style that have informed its development.
